North Channel Assistance Ministries (NCAM) is the emergency food pantry for the northeast quadrant of Houston. NCAM’s main focus is helping area residents with short term emergency assistance, including food and clothing. NCAM is located at 13837 Bonham Street, Houston, TX 77015. Old River Terrace United Methodist Church is especially proud of our relationship with NCAM, which was founded in 1985 together by Woodforest Presbyterian Church and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Today, NCAM is supported by a broad coalition of neighborhood churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals. The North Channel industries have been hit hard by the current recession, with a corresponding impact on NCAM. Demand for emergency services has sky-rocketed, making NCAM one of the most active food pantries in the state. Faced with this accelerating demand, NCAM has drawn up plans for a new facility on their existing site. A capital fund-raising campaign is on-going.
