Text Box: Them-there’s mighty big words from our brother Paul! (He must be from Texas!) In fact, they may be the BIGGEST words ever to come forth from the lips of a human critter!
In this edition of “Terrace Talk,” you’ll read about several Resurrection-related opportunities, including special Holy Week worship services. Mark your calendars and mosey on down here, Pardner! We’re going to celebrate the resurrection this month, Texas-style…that means we’re doing it up BIG! Just think…when Jesus broke out of the grave, he no doubt kicked up His heels like nobody’s business! (Did you know the old Texan saying, ‘Kick up your heels,’ originated with Jesus? Surely, you knew that! After all, He was born in east Texas!)

PS I confess I’m not Texas born, but cut me some slack I got here as fast as I could!
Text Box: A Word From The Pastor
Text Box: We Texans have the idea that any event that’s worth its historical salt surely took place on our soil! Hey, everybody knows…‘everything’s big in Texas,’ and that includes big-time history!
Many of us within this great state have our own brand of pride over where we live. Recently, I was at a meeting for all Methodist clergy of

the South District. There were a few pastors who came from other districts, and so our District Superintendent, Dr. Don Waddleton, during his greeting, made an extra effort to include everyone… “and a special word to all visiting clergy from beyond the borders of the South District: WELCOME TO JERUSALEM!”
Someone from the back mumbled, “That’s where Jesus was crucified.” His comment was overheard by Text Box: Dr. Waddleton who quickly retorted, “And that’s where he rose again, too!” The crowd broke out in laughter as Mr. Mumble suddenly turned into Mr. Humble who sunk down in his chair and ‘nary’ made a sound!
When it comes to our Lord’s resurrection, there is no bigger event in all of history! It’s so big and crucial that the Apostle Paul said, “…if Christ has not been raised, your

faith is worthless; you are still in your sins (I Cor. 15:17).” Our forgiveness, our right standing with God, our wholeness, our healing, our sanctification, our eternity all hinges on the biggest and most profound event of all: the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave!
“But now Christ has been raised from the dead…” Text Box: “But now Christ has been raised from the dead…”
I Corinthians 15:20

[The following anecdote was sent to us from Terry Cobden. Thanks, Terry!]
An old Texan went to the local church and asked to join. The preacher said, 'OK, but you have to pass a small Bible test first.' The first question is 'Where was Jesus born?' The man answered, ' Longview.' The preacher said. 'Sorry...you can't join our church.'
Soooooo....he went to another church and asked to join. The preacher said, 'We would love to have you, but you have to pass a Bible test first. Where was Jesus born?' The man said, ' Tyler.' The preacher said, 'Sorry...you can't join our church.'
Soooooo....he goes to another church and asks to join. The preacher said, 'That's great; we welcome you with open arms.' The man said, 'I don't have to pass no Bible test first?' The preacher said, 'No.' The man said, 'Can I ask you a question?' The preacher said, 'Sure.' The man said, 'Where was Jesus born?' The preacher said, 'Palestine.'
The man mumbled to himself, 'I knew it was in East Texas somewhere.'
