Troop 524
Boy Scout troop 524 is chartered by ORT and was started in December of 2001 by former Scoutmaster David Kuykendall and other leaders. The troop was started with a graduating group of Webelos Cub Scouts. In 2005, Ron Spates took over the duties of the Scoutmaster of the Troop. Our Scouts currently range in age from 17 to 11 years old with an average age of 14. We currently have several Scouts close to reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, the pinnacle of Scouting.
Troop 524 is very active. We camp one weekend each month, usually on the 3rd or 4th weekend. We are also involved in several service and fund raising projects. Some service projects help the cub scouts, some help the church, and some help the community. Our Troop meets in the Scout Hut at ORTUMC on Sundays at 5:00pm. Young men interested in becoming a new Scout, current Scouts looking for a new experience, and guests are always welcome.
Boy Scouts is a boy run organization. Adults are present to guide, train, control, and protect. We believe that there is no other way parents can obtain for their boy the advantages in skills, leadership, discipline, and quality experience gained by several years in a scout troop.

Pack 524
Cub Scout Pack 524 meets Tuesdays at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.
Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings.
Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.
